Home Teams
The core “community model” for Champion Fellowship is the “home team.” It is the primary venue where church community is lived out for the glory of God with a kingdom identity for each believer.
Leaders and hosts of these small groups are both shepherds and stewards of God’s children. They have joint responsibility for the spiritual growth, development, and the missionality of the believers who attend our congregation. Home team leaders and hosts are teachers, pastors, caregivers, missionaries, servants, and above all, people with surrendered hearts and identities that are stewards of the children of God.
Because of this responsibility, frequent training opportunities and conferences are offered to develop the leadership of our home team leaders, hosts and group participants.
The stewardship of our gifts, possessions, abilities and experiences will ultimately demonstrate the fruit of the spirit and the grace of Jesus Christ to our community. We have been justified by the grace of Jesus Christ alone, and from captive hearts, His grace abundantly flows from “jars of clay” in demonstrated faith, hope, love and service.
Home Team Outcomes and Vision:
1. To become a learning community.
• Learning from the word of God, the Holy Spirit and from each other. Life is a journey, not a destination. We will always maintain a learning posture.
• Practicing truth and grace.
We are open, learning communities focused on biblical truth, yet, communities that both accept and issue the grace that Jesus Christ has demonstrated, and freely given to us. His grace is expressed in loving one another.
2. To become learning communities filled with God’s grace.
• The grace of open dialogue and mutual respect.
These elements are critical to become a learning community that can be used by God in His service and mission to the world.
• The grace of praying consistently together.
We pray consistently with and for each other to become a community that grows together.
• The grace of serving together.
We have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ, and then blessed by being invited into His mission to the world.
3. To develop a vision and plan of service for how our missional communities can be more faithful with the “talents” we have been given. (ref. Parable of the Talents)
• Prepare.
Prepare for the care and development of Christian community, and the multiplication and stewardship of resources to be used as God directs. Resources in this context are defined as time, money, gifting, and most importantly…relationships.
• Develop a vision for service… and serve.
The vision and service for community mission and ministry should be both “centripetal” (internal) and “centrifugal” (external). The home team plan for service is the roadmap for action, both of faith and of deeds (see James 2:22).
• Multiply.
Multiplication of spiritual leaders and new community groups / home teams is critical, for it is both the essence of mission and the advancement of the kingdom of Jesus Christ. This requires intentional development on the part of each home team leader.
4. To develop leaders and stewards of next generation servants of Jesus Christ.
• Lead and Leave.
We lead with leadership that can be built upon, that will span generations with service in the kingdom. We leave a lasting legacy of service and stewardship for God’s children. Grace-centered leaders consistently distribute and multiply vessels for and by the grace and love of Christ.
