Champion Fellowship embraces freedom to worship Jesus Christ and give Him the glory and honor that He is due. We desire to take to heart the words of our Lord Jesus found in John 4:23-24:

“But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”
We believe that worship is a personal interaction between a believer and God. Worship takes place in spirit because God is a Spirit and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit. This means that worship is more than an activity on Sunday morning. It can have many forms beyond singing. Worship is a life yielded to God. It is a life that exalts Jesus Christ. Worship is a response to the grace and life that God has given us.

The music service at Champion Fellowship is best described as contemporary. Worship leader Jason Morgan is blessed to be supported by a growing and talented band whose members love Jesus and seek to bring Him heart-felt worship.

Come and join us as we lift up the name of the Lord Jesus Christ!

Worship at Champion Fellowship

So often we think about worship as being in a particular place, style, or atmosphere. To some, worship is singing. To others, it’s prayer. To others, it’s studying scripture. Some people associate worship with a particular church building or a particular style of music. Truly, these things can all be a valuable part of worship, but they—in and of themselves—are not worship!

So what is worship?

In speaking to the woman at the well, Jesus gave us a fundamental insight into what God considers true worship to be:

“ But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” John 4:23-24

This woman was asking Jesus to give her the particulars of where to worship. She wanted to know what it should look like. While she was probably expecting Him to say, “You should worship here,” or “You should worship there,” He completely skipped the externals and went straight for the heart. So what did Jesus mean when He said, “in spirit and in truth”? I wouldn’t presume to grasp the full extent and depth of our Lord’s words. But we can see pretty clearly at least one thing that Jesus is teaching here. We can see that the focus isn’t on the externals. After God had historically been very particular on “how” to worship when instructing the nation of Israel under the law, Jesus—the final and perfect revelation of the Father (Hebrews 1:1-3)—reveals the desire of God that His people worship Him in such a way that they aren’t hiding behind ceremony or any outward appearance. Jesus told us of a worship that is so personal that it comes from the poverty of our ransomed spirits and is completely void of pretense or self-righteousness. The Father desires His children to worship in spirit because there, when we find ourselves with nothing to hide behind, no externals to rely on—when our souls are laid bare before Him—it’s then that we begin to see that true miracle that His grace is (Romans 5:8). It’s then that His gospel begins to really take root in our hearts. It’s then that we begin to worship our Creator and we begin to realize more deeply the tremendous gap between His majesty and our depravity that is bridged by His grace and applied to us through faith (Isaiah 55:9; Romans 4:16, 5:2; Ephesians 2:8).

He deserves our utmost, heartfelt worship and reverence. His word demands it of us (Colossians 3:16, Hebrews 12:28-29, Psalm 66:1-2). We desire to grow in depth of worship together as we realize that worship is an ongoing, beautiful response to our holy, righteous Creator. It’s a response that we should desire to exhibit from our heart to His, everyday that we’re alive, as we begin to see more and more clearly who He is (1 Corinthians 13:12). Our lives should be characterized by this worship that Jesus taught us about. Each moment, in truth, with all we are.

Music Ministry

The music ministry at Champion Fellowship exists to bring glory to God through all musical expressions of worship as we offer the sacrifice of praise continually (Hebrews 13:15)—both personally and corporately.

Our hope is to provide a refuge and atmosphere for spiritual growth and encouragement as God’s people sing the words and truths of scripture, focus on who He is and what He has done, and as the Holy Spirit ministers to hearts. Our great desire is that through participation in worship under the new covenant, believers will increasingly realize the gravity of the relationship we are called to (Philippians 2:12) and the heavenly scene that we are joining with as we walk with Him (Hebrews 12:22-24). We desire that the gospel of the Kingdom continues to transform and renew our minds (Romans 12:2) and that we are trained to set our eyes on eternity—as God has given us the capacity to fathom (Ecclesiastes 3:11)—and to live in light of it. We desire to be a people who continue to grow in depth of relationship with the triune God and we desire to increasingly long and yearn for Him and realize that only in Him will we be filled (Psalm 42:1, Matthew 5:6, John 4:10).

The times of worship through music at Champion Fellowship are intended to draw attention to God, to sing who He is and His glory—with all eyes set on Him. The worship team usually leads on Sunday mornings, but we recognize that the matter of whether there is a full band or a single guitar, whether the songs are fast or slow, whether the songs are new or old pales in comparison to the majesty of the Savior we worship. No person in the band, the congregation, or anyone else should receive any glory or credit for anything that happens at Champion Fellowship. This means that the purpose of the music ministry at Champion is not to be a platform our outlet for musicians. Though musicians may be able to enjoy utilizing their musical gifts for the glory of God, the primary purpose for the ministry is to be a instrument in the hands of God for the edification of the church, that no flesh may glory in His presence (1 Corinthians 1:29).
