Frequently Asked Questions
What is BTXLA?
How are the students divided?
Students are divided into grade levels and each grade level is led by a Blinn student, called an EI (Educational Instructor). The classes are then grouped into either younger (K-3) or older (4-6) to provide age-appropriate bible and leadership time.
How does transportation work?
Durham buses will transport students from all 3 elementary schools and the middle school to our program. Students are to be picked up by a parent at 5:45 pm from Champion Fellowship unless they have specified a need for a ride home (extra $40 per family per semester).
What is the cost?
$60/student per semester. Extra $40 per student if a ride home is needed (in town only).
What age does this program serve?
This program serves students in Brenham ISD, grades Kindergarten through 6th grade.
What kinds of enrichment opportunities will the students have?
We are looking to provide students with art, music, dance, STEP, and sports enrichment opportunities and are open to any other opportunities that may arise.
How can I get involved?
BTXLA has various physical needs including snack donations to feed the students each day, educational materials for enrichment, and financial funding. We are also in need of mentors, which are volunteers from the community that can commit to coming once a week (ether Tuesday or Thursday) and will be paired up with a student and meet with them each week to help with homework and just develop a relationship with them.
What will financial donations go towards?
Our main costs are pay for the Educational Instructors, t-shirts for the staff and students, educational materials, field trip, and Christmas and End-of-Year Celebrations.
